South Yorkshire Digital Region (SYDR)
Project Description
SCD was a strategic member of the South Yorkshire Digital Region (SYDR) delivery team. SCD was contracted to deliver the optical fibre infrastructure during the 30-month project build phase.
Digital Region will provide a consistent symmetric broadband service throughout South Yorkshire with guaranteed connection speeds above 25Mbps. The project was the largest single scheme in Europe and took advantage of SCD’s exclusive local knowledge, having worked with the various Councils for many years.
In addition to the Digital Region, SCD has built and currently maintains the optical fibre systems that form the backbone of the Council’s CCTV and IP networks.
Working with Yorkshire Forward, SCD helped other Next Generation Access projects throughout Yorkshire and the north of England. Bringing superfast broadband to rural communities, the “final third” of the UK population. Those not served by the established telecommunications providers will receive world-class services - helped by SCD.
Project Summary
