CCTV and ANPR Infrastructure, Barnsley MBC
Project Description
SCD was commissioned to implement and support a new IP-based CCTV and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system.
Over a number of years, Barnsley MBC has developed its own private optical fibre network
As part of the Council’s response to its Civil Contingency responsibilities a new programme to monitor and manage traffic on the town’s main arterial roads was required. SCD has extended Barnsley’s optical fibre network. Additional ducting and optical fibre connect new high-resolution IP cameras via Gigabit Ethernet to the new Control Room. The Control Room incorporates multiple Network Video Recorders which automatically store live camera feeds and archives them for use by the Council or South Yorkshire Police.
SCD was responsible for the supply and installation of the active network and video equipment and now provides an active support service to the Council ensuring the system maintains its high availability.
To complete the system SCD cast the camera bases and installed the columns and cameras.
A number of junctions also benefited from SCD’s skills with extensive modification including island creation, kerb drops and tactile paving.
