Optical Fibre Infrastructure, Leeds Hospital
Project Summary
Project Description
Since the company’s inception, SCD has installed dedicated optical fibre infrastructure for security systems throughout the UK. However, this prestigious project was particularly important to Leeds-based SCD, as it is underpinned by the essential facility within its own local NHS Trust.
The new Security Control Facility within Leeds Teaching Hospital is the most ambitious in the NHS. Over 700 CCTV cameras across St James Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary, Chapel Allerton Hospital, Seacroft Hospital and Wharfedale Hospital are now monitored in this pioneering centralised control facility.
Optical fibre cabling:
Installation of over 180km of optical fibre throughout the Trust locations.
Termination of more than 1,300 individual optical fibre connections.
Each optical fibre is fully tested and certified (FIA, Fibre Optic Industry Association standards).
Security equipment:
Specialised optical Fibre transmission equipment to connect existing CCTV cameras to the new infrastructure.
Gigabit Ethernet Switches to enable the introduction of IP-based CCTV cameras to the new infrastructure.
