Solar Farm in Thaxted

Project Description

SCD was a major part of the delivery team for the 74 acre Solar Farm Project, near Thaxted, Essex.

SCD was contracted to project manage the delivery of the 74 acre site, ensuring the client achieved the maximum Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) rate. Failure to hit this target would have proven to be detrimental to the overall profitability and resale value to the client.

SCD determined and implemented a definitive set of guidelines and responsibilities to the contractor on site, working closely with the project managers present to coordinate a delivery solution to deliver the project effectively, efficiently and safely.

The team on site ensured that all approved designs were adhered to during the construction of the 15MW farm, and that all UK standards and legislation were met.

SCD also worked closely with the SHEQ and CDM presence on site to ensure safe working. Working to our high standards of quality would strive to create and maintain a safe working environment for the duration of the project. This was achieved via regular site meetings, safety briefings, tool box talks and random, but frequent, audits of the site.

Programme coordination and proportional acceleration was a high priority, with weekly progress meetings held.

With excellent coordination and management from SCD, the site, generating power for 4500 homes, was connected to the grid and handed
over to the client on schedule.
